Default Burnt oil smell & radiator fan not working - related?

Hello:
Our 944 has been running great - no variations in guages etc. (Althought the full guage only goes to 3/4, which is probably the sending unit)
But this week the temparture outside has been very cool (high's in the 50's), and after driving for a bit around town the radiator fan has not been coming on. Also, there has been a burnt oil smell when we stop. (We have had the heat on due to the temps);
I checked the fuses and all are fine - I have not check the relays yet.
Any advice - do these two things seem to be related? (I will read Clarks-garage further for cooling fan remedies)
Thanks in advance.

Check for oil leaks.
I think there may be a test procedure on CG for testing the temp sensor.

Thanks - if it ever stops friggin raining I will be able to check for leaks. That's my original plan - just wondering if the fan could somehow be tied into the smell.......

if the water temp doesn't come up, the fans won't turn on.

the motor could've burnt out and that's the smell or you could have an oil leak that isn't hitting the ground.

it's weird; the engine temp always rises to normal. (The first mark - whatever temp that is). The oil level has not moved at all. If it has then it's very, very little....
I poked around from up top and didn't see anything. I need to get underneath it to investigate more.

Burning oil smell: could be a slow oil leak, with oil dripping on something hot (especially the exhaust manifold). Check around for oil stains.

Ok - I just crawled around underneath and could see oil on a hose; it's right above the sway bar; closest to the front of the car. It looks like the hose connects to a pulley. The pulley is the lowest one on the passenger side of the car. It's under the oil filter, but it doesn't look like to filter is leaking at all.
It's pretty tight under the front end there, so I'm not sure where else it could be leaking from.
Hopefully that is the leak - and not something else. I will snoop around more later.
Advice always appreciated.

Power steering line, just about all 944's have a leak there. It is not very expensive to fix.

Ah - Thanks! So the burnt oil smell is power steering fluid?

Also might be worth checking the oil filter again ... mine was dripping because it was a tad loose.
