Check out the cool Mini remote 911 (coming soon)!
I WILL be getting one of these when they come out!
Go to the main page, and scroll down to the bottom--in the "coming soon" area, note the Audi, and the 911!

Dude, go to Radio Shack, they have them out now. They call them Zip Zaps. www.zipzaps.com They're only $20 for the car and then you can buy upgraded engines and gearing. They're pretty darn cool. I had to buy the Mustang though, because the place i went to was out of 911s.

Actual research and reviews on the net leads me to not want the ZipZap, due to the 1.0 speed engine! Seems www.microsizers.com cars (available at a discount on the web) have 2.2 speed engines, and are smaller and lighter...etc. No Porsche bodys though.
Looks like a fun toy!

You need to get a mini-z. Their a little bigger and expensive but way better. Ive seen ones that can do 27mph, they have all kinds of upgrades, bodies, suspension, engine, etc. Their 1/26 scale so you can modify model cars as bodies. Im going to try a 944 turbo body

I also agree on the Mini-Z's. A bit bigger, but they get more then just a 3-5 minute run time. That would get old after a while I think.
Before I found out about the Mini-Z's I picked up a couple of Tyco's "Canned Heat" cars. These ran 25 a piece. They run on 2 AA's. And they do very well on flat surfaces.
With the bigger car I was able to mount a small wireless micro camera to the car and drive around. Talk about the ulitmate mini chase scene. I'll have to post some videos of that real soon.

I have Audi TT and original Mini Cooper 'canned heat' cars. They are great for having little races around the kitchen floor.
Unfortunately, they have unequal length axles, and have some serious "torque steer" (if you can even call it that)
They like to turn one way, but turning in the opposite direction isn't quite as good. makes for a very nascar-esque race.

my friend has the lancer microsizer...really cool to play around with on a table or a flat, smooth, slick surface. No fun on carpet.
It'll do donuts as well as figure 8's...
But just goin around corners and whatnot...no drifting unfortunately.
Maybe we need to stiffen up the rear suspension to get it to oversteer more off throttle

In Hong Kong, they have these things going for really cheap. The shops sell upgraded "stage 5" turbos and body kits you can put on. You can also "drift" with them by taking off the rear rubber tires. Fun at first, but gets REALLY REALLY old after 10 minutes.

Forget about the Mini-Z's and Micro RS4's... they are waay too expensive for what you get. I spent less money and got a 1/10 scale Tamiya R/C car w/shaft-driven AWD and an Opel body. I'd prefer a Porsche body, though...

I have the Lancer (only one they had left) and it has been sitting for a few weeks because I messed up the steering racing one of my friends.
They are pretty fun things to play with, especially when you're playing with more than one person. I've had mine for a long time now.
BTW, the range is terrible for some of them. Mine seemed to only go like 5 feet whereas my friends went 10 or 15 feet.

I think the fun lies in the fact that for $30 you can get a tiny car that is fun to run on the floor for a few minutes. Getting into the expensive radio controlled world of larger cars takes time/money/running room...
I just ordered a nice white Nissan Skyline Microsizer...I assume I'll play with it, buy some upgrades, then either shelve it, or buy more!

What's the DEAL with these things?? I think we've stumbled onto the next Beanie Baby! I read this thread yesterday and went to Radio Shack last night to get some diodes. TWO DIFFERENT ladies came in while I was there and bought a combined SIX of those little guys! The second lady bought two, and they were both 911s - GT2s I think. The best part though, was looking at their faces when the Radio Shack guy was trying to explain matching frequencies.

Yes, the HPI are about $400 for the whole deal, a couple sets of tires, and a few bodies, but WELL worth it, i get the thing up over 40... take the front drive axles out for true 911 handling characteristics, or leave it 4wd for the 911TT. its a blast! i'd gladly pay for it again, its provided HOURS upon hours of entertainment for me. my roommate has one as well, he has the 1st gen RS4 sport, i have the RS4 sport 2, i beleive the RS4 sport 3 is out now. so much fun! check my topics on the GT2 and GT3 for some pictures, they look awesome!
