Is it just the holes that are off or is the mounting lug thicker also? I think I read a post a while back with dimensions on how you can just elongate one hole to fit. If anyone has this I/we would appreciate a link. TIA

You have to elongate the hole and the 86 turbo spindle is thinner than the early offset spindle where the strut "clamps" onto the spindle. Technically, its best to add a metal sheet spacer. However, you can tighten the bolts and the strut "flaps" can clamp down to the thickness of the spindle.

Thanks, however 86 turbo is early offset also, could you please clarify. Also do you know which hole is best to elongate, top or bottom?

Turbo is differnt than n/a. If its up to me, I would just buy a set of used turbo struts instead of going through the hassle.

Not a good option for me as I have a set of nearly new na early offset Bilstein struts and inserts with the racers edge coil-over conversion. Rather modify these than spend any more $'s. I get the 951 back tomorrow so I'll do some measuring and post the results here for reference in the future.

Quick question about the hubs...I have a 924S, so same hubs as an early 944. If I were to buy an adapter kit from Racer's Edge to fit big red/big black or 951S calipers to my 924 spindles (i believe that they sell them - its listed on their site), is there any reason that the brake rotors would not fit?

ie aside from the difference in spindle diameter, is there anything else different about the 951 wheel hub as compared to an early N/A hub?

Thanks

I love Rennbay. But Wilwoods are not as good as Brembos. They are easier though.

Sorry but brembo calipers are just NOT necessary for the n/a car as proven on track. The n/a brakes work great even for 3.0L 968 motor transplants in the n/a.

They may work great, but the wilwoods are lighter, easier pad changes, and more resistant to brake fade... also they look super dope y0.

i may go the wilwood route as my power projects develop further down the line.

however the stock brakes are damnnnn good. theyre almost too powerful for a car of this weight. i remember reading an old road&track article comparing the 924, 944 and 911 and they said that the 944 had the biggest brakes ever fitted to porsche road car at that time...

Porcho heat,

You have the wilwood calipers, right? Could you post some pics of your sick setup? I would much rather go the rennbay route than do the brembo retrofitting. Too easy to say no- plus they're new!

Pics pics!

Cool

Rennbay's Wilwood set-up is the best. Fantastic improvement and ease of install, plus the proven advantage of buying from a Rennlist supporter who stands behind his products.

you guys with Rennbay kit - has anyone upgraded rotors?
I know atleast for the A6, there were aftermarket rotors available that were slightly bigger then the stock ones - in the end I ended up with 321mm in front and something like 29x in rear

would be kind of sick to have a "big brake kit" on the budget!

and is all this hassle with turbo brakes or Lyndsey's kit the same for early cars (pre 85)?
