...so I pull up to a stop light tonight on University Avenue in my 951, a couple of blocks from Porky's, where all the hotrodders hang on Friday/Saturday nights. Just bringing home some Vietnamese carryout for dinner. And alongside me pulls a Saint Paul police officer in his big brown Crown Vic. He's on the prowl for automotive miscreants. I look at him, he looks at me. I rev my engine twice-- vroom! vroom! in the classic manner and give him a big grin. His eyes narrow. I crack up. He looks away, and I can see him sigh and shake his head ever so imperceptably. The light turns green. I -slowly- accelerate to the legal limit. End of story.

Everybody's liable for a little teasing when I'm around, I'm a fun loving guy. Or something else, I'm not sure what. Anyway it was funny and harmless.

That is pretty sweet.

 

3 different times now I have had a cop pull up next to me and ask me to race. Twice in the Porsche and once in the Jaguar. It scared the crap out of me. Needless to say I never took them up on the offer. I even had a cop pull me over once so he could ask me if he should buy an e30 M3 or a 951!

 

Well...what did you tell him?

 

Thad, I tried that once, I got a lecture guess it depends on his mood.

 

I 'spect he had bigger fish to fry.. like the 600 BHP Barracuda across the street or the 400 cu in GTO convertible in the next lane...

Funny thing is I usually don't go down there Friday or Saturday... don't feel like being treated with 'attitude' by the Big Iron boyz...
