968 oil cooler location in 944 chassis (engine swap)
I'm in the process of swapping a 968 engine into my 944S. I'm looking for some tips as to where to place the stock 968 oil cooler in the 944.
I have two issues:
1. Length of stock 968 oil cooler lines seems to be difficult to modify. Has anyone done it? How?
2. Best space seems to be in the lower cooling slots to the side of the lower radiator opening. However, this is a track car and I have brake cooling ducts in these locations.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Any hydraluics shop would lengthen the lines for you. Under/behind the radiator is a good spot, see picture of oilcooler for our 968 turbo engine. This requires lengthened lines.

Eirek,
Thanks for the quick reply.
Is the oil cooler directly behind the radiator, or does it hang lower than the radiator?
Also, do you have a closeup of the oil line attachments? are they pressed on, or threaded? We need to have threaded attachements for track use.
What kind of oil temps are you typically seeing?

1/4th of it is behind the radiator the rest is lower, it would get to close to the ground for street use if it was mounted directly below the radiator.
The lines are threaded onto the oilcooler itself, the connections to the engine are original, that is why we had to get new and longer hoses clamped to the orginal fastening brackets on the engine and clamped onto the threaded connections for the oilcooler.
This is just one of many possibilities, but has worked very well for us (so far).
Hope this helps:
