Question rear tire clearence

I'm running an 86 951 with late offset wheels. (17 inch 993 wheels, I believe). Rears are running 255/40. I put 1.5 inch spacers in the back since the rears were sitting inside pretty far, and I noticed some rub marks on the inside of the wheel well when I took them off. Now I'm rubbing under hard acceleration on the outside, but ONLY on the drivers side. The passenger side is fine. Visual inspection shows that indeed, the driver side is a bit closer to the fender lip. I remember hearing a few people mentioning that the tire spacing doesn't seem equal on both sides even on a stock car, is this consistent with that condition? What's the solution here, should I just find a machine shop and shave off about 1/4th of an inch from the spacer?

add more neg. camber and see how the tires wear. If you start getting thin on the inside go with the shaved lip thing.

So just to be all different and stuff, I was going to go the negative camber route, so I did a bunch of reading online about do-it-yourself wheel alignment, fabricated a few things out of clamps, wood and levels and decided to see what I was starting with. Hmm...that tire seems to have positive camber, that's not good...so does the other rear. one front has slight positive but I may not have a good suspension settlement there. Rears are odd...and then I look. The camber adjustment bolt/nut on BOTH rears is _completely gone_ Just a big nice empty hole there. Guess it's time to order some parts. Certainly explains the vague squrimy feeling sometimes in the handling.

I'm also running 17" cup allows with 255/40 on the back. I don't have any spacers or any kind and my tyres don't rub!
