Basicly what the title says, i need some advice on liquids and tools needed to clean the nasty build up of dirt/grim over the past 23 years and also wanting to clean the suspension comp, all rubber/metal misc pieces!

Do you have a lift, a pressure washer, lots of degreaser, and lots of rags/brushes/etc? If not, things will need to get more creative.

If you don't have a pressure washer take it to a commercial truck wash. They usually have a rack for stream cleaning big rigs. I had a car done for $55 and it was worth every penny. Degreasers and then steam cleaning is a good combo. The guy doing the work was wearing a full Hazmat looking suit. Be careful with some pressure washers though as they can remove the undercoating applied at the factory or dealer.

Degreaser would be best but the most time consuming. I pressure washed everything on my old NA and it was fine. When I did it to the turbo it removed undercoating and reached sensors somewhere that made my 951 unhappy.

Man... I've been jonesing for one of these since you posted the pics of the rims you cleaned... see, I have this spare transaxle I want to clean up and lo and behold, the garage at my workplace has one and I can use it...

Well I called about 20 different shops here in the North West and noone has a lift to steam or preasure wash the undercarriage! Except Gerber but they quoted me around $200 to 250! Which is f'ed up and a rip off!

Has anyone in the NW found a place that dose not rip you off!

Jack the car up, put it on jackstands, and was to your hearts content. Thats what I'd do.

Thanks for the compliment. The exterior is looking good, but my engine bay looks like a bum's *******. I'm hoping to hit that in the near future.

Well after looking hard for a couple of days I found a shop here in the NW Called

Kenny's Auto Detail Inc. in Seattle, that use a steam pressure washer and can do my undercarriage for $60! I am so happy!!!! I will see if he can clean my wheel wells, and my suspention there aswell along with my engine!!

Glad to see you stuck it out...that's about what I paid. When you see how messy it is you know it's a bargain. Be careful with the engine compartment; tape a baggy over your distributor cap, sensor connections, and fuse box. Tape the TDC hole at the top of the bellhousing. Gorilla Tape holds up sbetter to steam than regular duct tape. Post some before/after pics if you can.

I have no idea what the TDC means? Is it the "Top Dead Center"? Can you post pics of the hole? Thanks!

Yes, top dead center but don't have any pics. The TDC hole and sensors I would cover with tape are on the drivers side bellhousing(at the block). Lean way over and look down at the bellhousing, you'll see the square opening and the sensors. It won't disable the car but it's not really good for it either. The injector harness and other wiring near the head can be brittle but I'm sure they know what they are doing at a detail shop.
