Hopefully I'll have the car ready for the NASA/Super Cup by then. This should be fun with the 'Fest crowd.

I haven't driven the pro course, but I understnd its about 2 seconds a lap faster than your normal times.

That'll be nice... would like to have a familiar face to root for in the race.

How do you guys track your lap times at a DE? I thought lap timers were explicitly disallowed at DE events, although they would be good for actually knowing how you were doing. Would love to see some detailed traces of my laps.

I don't think our region has any "no lap timer" rule - however the club itself can't track or post lap times.

Most guys with race prepared cars have timers installed. Or, you can post someone with a stopwatch to catch your times - or mount an in-car camera and time the laps off the video.

Yeah, Zone 1 and most of the NE regions do not allow timing equiptment to be set up at the track, i.e. no beacons. Those with GPS usually can get around it by hiding it in the car. Then there is like what Chip says in just video taping your laps and timing afterwards. Timing is very important once you get going to see what works and what doesn't when you are past the "beginner stage". This is a DE, so no lap times are posted, but Zone 4 and most if not all of the Mid-western regions seem to be more "level headed" when it comes to timers. Though ultimately you have insurance to thank for no timers in certain regions.

Hmm, one month before NASA Nationals, might be worth the trip to get a practice race weekend in I'd be running GTS-3, not the DE, but would plan on partying with the Festers.
