Wow! This thread really show the diversity of front-engine, porsche-philes!
I'm an air quality/engineering consultant in Arizona. I agree with an earilier post that 944s (and similar) are not really that expensive to deal with compared to others of the breed. Part of the attraction is that you can apply creativity to "problem solve" rather than just throw $$ at a dealer. The more ya learn - the less you'll spend.
Factor in the ability to DIY with these cars. Current Porsches - some have engine is hidden under the car and ya gotta be a software engineer just to disconnect the battery - LOL.
