Default Oil Mixing

is it bad to mix High Mileage Oil with regular oil of they are the same grade and brand. I have High Mileage 10w-50 and Regular 10w-50 Castrol. Can I mix them?

Sure. You will just be diluting the high mileage oil.

I've never seen 10w-50 oil before.

+1, I wouldn't worry about it. But I have also not heard of 10W-50. Do you mean 20W-50>

Really? That's all we use in my dad's big block cheby's on the boat. Used to use it in the small blocks in the previous boat as well.

And I see no reason to worry about mixing either...except don't mix beer with sweet, fru-fru umbrella drinks...unless you prefer driving a porcelin bus to the P-car. Now Gin & Tonics after a few red wines...there's a winning combination for ya !

The difference in the high mileage and regular stuff is just the additives. As long as its the same weight, i wouldnt worry about it.

Search the oil threads... no one recommends anything below 40 (eg 15w40, 10 w40)

I should have stated that this was for my wifes Pacifica. I figured I would get a better response here than in OT.

Yeah, it would have turned political / anti-police/ you don't have to pay taxes

What weight does the owner's manual recommned? I thought Chrysler was recommending 5w30 for everything these days.
