the person cant win for 3 months i think needs to be modified....

if that person wins, he/she would probably not contribute to the pot for 3 months....

also if the person really really needs help, then they should get it....

and also is roll over to the next month still a option if a winner isnt choosen? or do you wish to contribute it to a organization?

that sounds good.

calling it the "bad luck fund" would be my vote. If we put up a web page for it, we can post who has sent in $ to it, so we know who to vote for, etc. Then when the month's over we can start one thread for votes, and one for your pathetic pleas for the money.

Fund starts beginning of each month, ends at the end, voting and sending of $ to be done within a week afterward. If no one really needs it, and a majority votes to roll it over, then it does.

I think you should be able to win it without putting any $ in, that way if something really nasty happens, we can vote to send it somewhere that it's needed.

Once you get a paypal address setup, I'll make a simple webpage for it and put up rules, names, etc. Unless you want to, or have an easy way to host it, Adrial

and also how do we distribute the money....for instance, it can not be given to a person for upgraded mods but what if that person had a break in and his upgraded stereo was stolen...granted the window should be replaced but how do you cover the stereo? pay out a fraction of the cost and if they want better, they pay for the rest?

thanks,

all the rules suggested sound good

we just have to always follow the rule that the person who recieves the money is the one that gets the most votes.. and i think the votes should be cast using our forums and just posting "i think ____ should get the BLF (bad luck fund) prize this month because ____" instead of using some sort of online voting thing where people can vote a million times.

also, one of the options for a vote will be to vote for the BLF to not go to anyone.. ie: "i think the BLF should not go to anyone this month because no one has had sufficiently terrible luck" although.. i must say, we 944 owners always have bad luck.

if everyone votes for a guy to get a modded stereo replaced, so be it, i doubt that'll happen.

oh yea also no voting for yourself ever.

so there you go, and if you dont want to make another account adrial, i can run it from my paypal account, since i dont even use it for anything else anymore.. but the reason i dont is because paypal has all these crazy fees now.. using yahoo payments thing seems to be better nowadays.. but whichever.. its just that paypal does take a % of all transactions and crap like that. hey we could always do this with our checkbooks but that does tend to get annoying.

we could always make this into a subscription service, how about that? a 1 year subscription to the BLF will cost you $60. with it you are gauranteed to win the prize at least once out of X number of months (where X is the amount of people subscribed to the BLF one month after you have subscribed).

wow this is getting complicated, but.. still.. i do think its a great idea.

but like i said.. we could run this on a trial method this month, its easy. we start a new thread, everyone who wants to be in simply says so "i would like to participate in the BLF". then we hear the stories, we vote, winner gives his/her paypal/home address for payment and recieves payments within 2 weeks. BLF winner states who contributed at the end of the thread for that month. whoever said they were "participating" but did not "contribute" will not be able to win the BLF for 3 months, or 6, or a year.. forget you people! and thats that, simple, no one even needs to run anything, the first month will weed out the untrustworthy people. sure you could lie about your story but i dont think many of us will be willing to vote for someone who we know nothing about anyway.. is it fair, maybe not, but we are a community of people not a bank ok im done. hope we can get this to work somehow, just need a go from like.. 10 people! how about a vote, on how we should run this for the first month?

im into that, i would like a simple way to add my 5 bucks each month and a fair way to select the winner, say top 3 bad luck stories of each month get voted on by 3 judges, each rating the story from 1-3, the story with the most points on the 29th of the month wins. Judges get selected by us, we simply select 3 fair listers that can change monthly, gets all of us involved (rotating judges) so example is for the month of May, anyone can post some story as "Bad Luck Contest" with details in the follow up, then on the 29th of May John D, Danno, Luke iam your father get to select the winner by grading each BAD LUCK post from 1-3, most points possible is 9, and the winner announced on the 1st of June, and so on, not partial to any judges but that would be a start eh?

i dunno, i dont see why everyone cant just vote any rennlister thats had an account for more than 1 month (so people arent making 100 accounts to vote from)... even rennlisters not part of the BLF.

I would be willing to contribute as well, but I do think that one person could recieve the funds. After all, say that 10 of us actually stick with it, thats only $50 in the kitty. Not a big help if we go splitting it up to help 2-3.

Unless its gonna be called the "Taxi" fund.

I agree, unless there are more than like, 50 people, I wouldn't want to split it up. and besides, if there's no one person that really needs it, just roll it over and keep on building it. Pretty soon we can buy an old beater 924 to take turns with.

OK my .002 worth. I actually did this with some friends of mine back when I was in HS. The solution is very simple and easy to all that wish to be involved. Let's face it we all have things that need to be done or we wish we could do to our cars, Right! Well, here is the suggestion.

1)Decide on an alloted amount of people that would be interested in joining in on this little adventurte
2) once this is decided all that wish to be involved decide how much money every two weeks would be resonable.
3) then out of the decided amount of persons randomly decide "For example on a random number generator" which person is the alloted person for the month.

I know the first thing you all will say is that well if you are the unluck person to be at the end of the list is will be some time before you would see any money. But the bottum line is that the money in the pot would be evenly spread and very much worth the effort.

Here is what my friend and I did, "Mind you this was 15 years ago"

There was 15 of us. Each of us wanted to update fix or change something on our "Excuse the type of car, Mustangs" we each submited 50 bucks each week out of our checks. Obviously we all had jobs.

That money whent into the pot and we randomly drew numbers out of a hat each month then eliminated that person untill that next money event.

The whole thing took 15 months but each of us recieved $3000.00 for our cars in a total of fifteen months "I was selected in month 11". It worked out great. We did have to rib a couple of people for there share after they recieved there portion. but it worked out well, we ended up doing three in all. We all ended up with very nice cars "I ended up totalling mine a year after the last money even "

We also bumped two persons tot he top "totaly a combined desition" Because of major breakdowns, but that was a unanious decision between the group

It really was easy and work fantactic. In 30 months I recieved 6000 for my car and another 2000 in a smaller but more expencive money game. total 8000 in 33 months.

That's my input but it took dedication to the project in order for it to work.

Well that it. Any one interested in something like this or would it only work between friends?

that sounds like a good idea but IMHO, thats more like a lottery....not really a bad luck fund....

if its going to a lottery, i say when a person puts in their money, give them a random number and get a random number generator....what ever number is created, person wins....monthly drawing

and if a certain person needs help that month, he or she can post there situation and all who put in the pot can vote if this months drawing will go to them....if not, the monthly drawing is resumed...

True I agree with you. However, the cool part about doing it that way is that nomater if you where having trouble that month or not you would eventually get the money. Ahh, it was just a thought. I am into doing a bad luck fund if it was run well.

i vote no on the lottery system, sorry, but not only do we all end up spending the same amount of money we eventually recieve at the end of the "time frame" that everyone gets money in, but.. it just doesnt reward people for having bad luck, which is basically the idea.

honestly, if i want to invest my money i can just do that..or better yet just gamble. this is supposed to reward an unlucky individual every month .. or two.. for having just that, bad luck, decided by us.

i think we should try this on a trial run with people pledging to join without sending any money, and try it that way, if the people send the money at the end of the vote then that means we have a nice system run on trust with no moderator which is probably a good thing.
