Default Engine Smoke...

My 951 got here, a light but persistent smoke comes from the engine. is this a sign of a blown engine - or normal for an 86? the engine omits a burning smell.

Is the smoke out the tail pipe or from the engine compartment. You can have even a minor oil leak dump on the exhaust causing smoking.

White smoke is usually coolant burning...check all your cooling hoses, and especially the two hose ends connected to the hard coolant pipe that runs above the headers to the heater, it might be dripping onto the headers and burning.

Is it sort of a gurgling? that can be steam escaping from a leak in the cooling system, with liquid trying to follow.

Any white or blue smoke in your exhaust?

See if the CO2 testport cap is leaking. Its near the back of the engine running along the side, look for the "p" of "porsche" on the cam housing.
