Zimmerman X drilled rotors

Just trashed a set of fronts after two DE's. Spider cracks to the edges. Maybe the Hawk Blues caused the problem. Back to the standard solid rotors for me. Be curious to hear other's comments.

I've tried a few different types of crossdrilled rotors, even cryo'd them, Hawk blues stop great but eat rotors in one or two track days!! I've gotten away from Hawks for the obvious reasons and haven't had a problem since.

in general, for track use, I'd suggest staying away from cross drilled rotors - as some have mentioned, they crack pretty easily.
For track use, slotted rotors seem to be the best way to go - all the benefits of cross drilled but they won't crack. Tire Rack has some decent ATP powerslot rotors for not too much money. I have them on the front wheels and with Hawk brake pads, they offer much better brake feel and stopping power than stock

4 track days on mine, no cracking problems, I run BHP Pads, SS flex lines and std. brake fluid. The pads take a stop or two to work well on the street, I have no fade problems on the track.

Hawk Blues will punish CD rotors (seen it many many times). Use OEM blanks with Hawk Blues and they'll last a lot longer. Add some cooling ducts and you'll get another couple track days out of them. CD rotors work well for road cars but unfortunately at the track they crack very quickly under the harsh use.

In fact my current set of rotors are the bargan basement $30 specials from Paragon. Sure they are made in China, but lets see how they hold up to racing and Hawk Blues. I had one track day on them so far and they felt just fine.

Ive had very good luck with Performance Friction 97 pads. They are available at www.ogracing.com. I would call to order as some of the brake stuff doesnt come up right on the website. The current pads are about a year old and half worn. The rotors are about a year and a half old. Ive probably got 16 track days on the pads and 22 on the rotors. They work just fine on the street and I dont have any fade issues at the track.

As I understand, cross-drilled rotors are designed more for weight reduction than extra stopping power (well, that and they look cooler). I got a set of slotted OEM rotors from Paul Weston at westonmotorsports.com - and loved them. He will slot a set for you for about $30 each.
