From years of working on a 944 versus a Civic, Element and TSX - the Honda products have always seemed to be much easier to work on (the engineers design a lot of parts for ease of use of hand tools). For instance you can remove the oil pan gasket in 15 minutes without working up much of a sweat. Even changing the transmission (which is the hardest part on a fwd car) isn't all that hard (hardest part is popping out the axles without pulling on the cv joint too much).

I agree that Honda's are easier to work on that a 944/951. I have experience with the Civic, Prelude, and RSX-S and all have been much easier to work on than my 951. There is a lot more room to use hand tools in a Honda's engine compartment (at least compared to the 951).
