Default is it possible to dye a black seat dark blue?

I have the dark blue interior (which, by the way, has anyone other than Tom R. ever owned or seen one of these interiors? I don't ever see them!) but I found a black sport seat.

I want the seat enough that I would deal with it being black and further ugli-fying my interior. It kind of needs some touching up anyways, though, so would it be possible to make it blue?

YES. You can dye any color any color!
Go to leathique website and get what you need. You will basically strip off all the wax and dirt off the black and then sand the black off till it is a bit lighter, then apply your blue dye.

I saw the leatherique dye. Sounds like it will work. I need to send them a sample or find out what my color code is. There's a "Dark Blue" and a "Navy Blue" (on the jager site, at least) and I don't know which mine is.

Dying seats is iffy at best. I used to sell leather/ vinyl dye and never saw it last on seats. Never.

Dye away...it will be tough to tell they are now blue...I'd get some new vinyl or leather seat covers in blue if that is in the budget.

I've tried to dye black seats just black...it rubs off even with the most stringent of prep works. So going from black to blue, a lighter colour...tough job, IMO.

It'll likely look like a dark bruise colour at best.

My budget is not enough to get the seat. Then when I go over budget and get it anyway, my budget is such to just install the seat, black as it is, with the little hole in one of the bolsters.

So paying ridiculous amounts for new seat covers? If I tore the seat covers, it would total the car.

I sent them a sample that I cut off of my seats. If you pull off the plastic covers on the hinges you can see that the material on the back of the seat gets folded in where the side and rear meet. On my seat I just lifted up the back portion and there was easily enough of the side material that had been folded under to cut a patch out of the leather and send to them.
