It goes to the timing cover to suck out "debris" that may be in there. Later cars had it blocked off so Its not important. just pull the hose off the timing covers. And whatever you do don't mount the filter right on the afm.

Yeah my 968 has that hole capped on the timing belt cover, and there is no extra hose going into my airbox. So that hose is not needed, just remove it and cover the hole in the timing belt cover.

Just curious, what's bad about mounting a filter to the AFM? Is it just the fact that it will be loose and move around? Maybe a support bracket or strap can be made easily.

The stock 944 already has a Cold air intake. For the NA cars I think the stock air box makes as much power as anything. Most 944 spec racers run the stock airbox for max hp. It is infact one of the few things we can change yet very few ever do.

no. the air isnt smooth going intot he afm if the filter is mounted right there. The Stig (mongo) dyno tested his car before and after and lost something like 30hp and 30tq because the engine wasnt fueling itself right.

you need a good round to square adapter first off. then you need atleast a foot of tube. this is mine...

it came with an ebay kit. but it needs to be a smooth transition! some just have a piece of tube welded onto a square hole. BAD!
