Default Sway bar bushings

I recently purchased a pair of Turbo sways from another rennlister (thanks vt951!). I need to get new bushings for the front. I looked at Vertex, and Pelican parts but they didn't have the size I need. I need bushings for a 22.5mm Front sway, and an 18mm rear sway. Also I need an adapter to point the rear sway because I'm fairly certain my car doesnt come with one (it's a n/a 1988 944). Where is a good place to find that?

http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/...pg6.htm#item25

everything you need should be on this page....call them, and they'll have it all
I see the 23mm front bushing, which is what you need, and they do have the 18mm bushings, and the bushing straps which you will need, along with the shackles, hex bolts, and locking washers. Etc. call them or Paragon products and they will set you up with everything you need.

The front turbo sway bar should be much larger than 22 mm.

Straight from Clarks Garage "The 951s came equipped with 22.5 mm stabilizer bars in front and 18mm stabilizers in the rear and 23.5 mm torsion bars."

My Turbo S uses a 26.5 mm sway bar and I think the non-S 87 and 88 cars had 24 mm sway bars.

Joe, early Turbos were equipped with either a 22.5mm solid front bar +18mm rear bar or a tubular 24 X 3.7mm front bar plus 18mm rear bar

Yeah,
I always tend to think of Turbo bars being bigger since I have 26.5 mm S bars and the next size up are the 968 M030 bars and beyond that are the 28 mm solid weltmeisters. 22 mm just semed like noodles... but I don't doubt that you are correct.

I just remember the last time I took my Turbo S to the track. That sucker leaned a like a boat comapred to what I had been used to. Just trying to imagine some thing even smaller being a "upgrade" is odd. I do know that the NA cars had really small sways and many did not have rear ones at all.

You're right. When I entered the Canadian National auto-x championship in 1986 with a 1985 944 NA it did have the standard suspension, no rear sway bar, and it leaned quite a lot in the long fast turns (see pic). My actual one has the 404 option (front-rear bars) and it is much better, but a Weltmeister is in the mail right now for me.....

My 87 NA also came stock with no rear bar. I run an 18mm now in delrin mounts.

My 86 951 came with a 24mm... which sucks as I bought 26.8mm front delrin bushings thinking that is what I had. Doh.

So Joe... need some front delrin sway bushings?

It was suggested the Turbo Sways could be a good intermediate step. I'm still trying to find some 968 M030 Sways, but until then these will do. Besides, I've still got a lot of time before I actually start competing!
