Default S2 rear suspension

Does the S2 share same rear suspension as the turbo/turbo s (non M030)?

Reason I am asking is that I need to get a pair of new shocks but I am not sure what to go for.

I've been told by few poeple I need to replace my shocks at the back as they seem very soft so I want something stiffer.

Can anyone recommend good shocks for the S2? - links appreciated if admins permit.

Use is split 60% road 40% track days (did my first track day couple of days ago and now I am hooked )

Thanks,
Rob

If you're on the track and street I would recommend Koni yellows, as they are adjustable. Or Bilstein sport's. You can get the Bilstein sports through www.vertexauto.com , but you have to call for those. And the Konis pretty much anywhere - paragon-products.com pelicanparts.com

The S2 suspension is interchangable will all 87+ suspension I believe.

Actually, the S2 has slightly different front springs.
Therefore the S2 struts are also slightly different.

If you swap turbo struts on to an S2, then you can run turbo springs.
But if you're just replacing the springs on an S2, make sure you get S2 springs, not turbo ones.
The S2 uses the same springs as the 968.

As for the rear, I believe they are identicle.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

I am glad you mentioned the springs Jon. I am planning to replace the rear shocks only and I've now pretty much made my mind to go with the Bilstens.
My question now is do i need to get new springs or my original ones will do?

If you plan on going 40% track days, you should probably increase the spring rate in the front. If you still have the stock S2 struts, they are probably in need of replacing also; mine were pretty soft. I increased to 200# springs in the front with Koni yellow inserts and ARHK, stock rear torsion bar, lowered rear through eccentrics and added Koni yellows. I also have 968 M030 front and rear sways. Improved feel of the suspension with less dive/roll, etc. Most people will suggest stiffer, but my body is a bit more worn.

Upgrading the suspension will yield many opinions. You may have opened up a can of worms...

I installed Koni's front and back, S2 lowering springs up front (~200lbs), and lowered the rear with the eccentrics.
This completely transformed the car, and it cost around $1000 to my door.
I bought it all from Paragon.

One downside to this was that now I notice the other weak points in the suspension. ie old bushing, sway bars....

It's definately a slippery slope.

The S2 front springs are progressive rate springs (same as 968), you actually get upgrade progressives, from memory they are 190-220lb from Paragon as an added bonus they also drop the front by 1"
