Default exhaust hardware help

After some rennlist research, I think I want to purchase a Borla Xr-1.

Now as much fun as it would be to get the super-nice SFR kit and bolt it on, that kit is a bit pricey, and the muffler from jeg's is just over $100.

The real trick it seems is getting from 2.25" stock pipe to the 2.5" inlet on the muffler. I think what I need is called a "reducer" or something, but I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly what I need.

Should I run stock 2.25" pipe all the way to the muffler and then cut and install the reducer and borla, or should I try to run 2.5" pipe all the way back after the cat? What type of hardware would I need to do the latter?

u'd want a uniform size exhaust pipe diameter. although i don't know enuff about porsche engines if 2.5" is optimal for the 2.7L exhaust pipe diameter tuning gets complicated with fluid dynamics and stuff.

If u buy the muffler, any exhaust shop can make the reducer in like 10 seconds and weld it all up with hangers and everything for 50 bucks

yea, unless you can weld good.

Or unless the exhaust shop sells the muffler (saves time with shipping and stuff, and makes the shop happy since they make a little more $$)

I think I'm going to try R & J custom exhaust in apex, nc. They sponsor my sports car club.

Anyone have a 2.5" borla xr-1 muffler for sale?

let me know what muffler you end up getting an how it comes out, i plan on doing it myself in the next few months.

With all the time I spend under the car, I cant remeber the muffler set up. Is is offset in and center out?
