Default Replacing torsion bars and what the hell is this ?

Pulled out the rear torsion tube assm to install new torsion bars and came across this . On the passenger side there is an ' 12 mm hex ' bolt or stud stud on the trailing arm , where it bolts to the scissor arm . Why is this here , and why is there not one on the drivers side ? I didn't have my big Allen drivers at home , so i have not tried to remove , but it all most looks like it is pressed in . Whats it there for ? Looks like it serves no purpose .......

Some hill-billy alignment aid? I don't ever recall seeing one of those.

I just finished taking mine apart twice to replace the bars and bushings, and then fix the ride height.

That does not exist on my 87 I can tell you that.

I can't really make out what I am even looking at. I have done t-bars twice (two differe t-bars) and do my own rear aligments. I can't see anything from that picture.

At least now we can tell that you have an early car with the steel control arms... All of us have later cars with the cast aluminum arms.

But I still think it's a hill-billy alignment helper.

Figured it out ....... its a rear toe out " tool " that was left in place . Its a consentric bolt that when is rotated pushes the trailing arm toe in or toe out .....

Never underestimate the importance of knowing what goes in which hole
