Default Saggy Rear-end!

Hello,
I just noticed, after a 30 mile drive, that the right rear of my 66,000 mile 951 is sagging. The shocks are original (yes, I know they should be replaced). My question is, if a shock "blew out," would that cause the rear end to sag?
Thanks!

A shock would not cause this. Shocks (or dampers) only act to dampen the oscilation of the torsion bars. Have you taken the RH wheel off and examined the rear suspension? Best to have a look first then report back for advise.

I just checked it out...nothing out of sorts. No bends in the trailing arm(no reasons to be bent either...the car is hardly driven). Nothing out of sorts with the torsion tube. There is still some suspension travel...about 1/2 of the normal amount. The only thing different is he shock has scuff mark from the top half lightly rubbing the bottom half.

The oem shock are gas pressurized? Correct? If if the shock lost pressure, are you sure the car would not sit lower as it is? If I broke a torsion bar, wouldn't the car have no travel left? And I am assuming I would have heard something?

Alright...I think it might be a spring place adjustment. I modified my search terms and it looks like a couple other people have had this too. My question is, why would the ride hight suddenly change. The rear suspension has never, ever been touched. The entire car is factory!

Just to answer your question, the shock has nothing to do with ride height. As stated, it merely dampens the up and down motion of the car as you drive (that way you don't rock like a boat). If your shock blows out, your rear end will bounce a lot more.
