Default engine mounts

Can I use these motor mounts to my 924S? I think these are old type, but I found them cheap, and mine are over 20 years old
Thank you!

If you are going to go thru all the trouble to R&R mounts, Please use new ones (preferably OEM).

No. I just changed my original 1988 924S motor mounts and they looked better than the ones pictured. My car has 57K original miles and had the 950rpm idle vibration. I used the non OEM from www.allzim.com. About $100 a pair. They also have the mounting bolts needed for the upgraded mounts for $8-included new thick washers. I suspect mine were soft, no leaks and measured ok from the crossmember.

My personal tips. For ease of insulation, remove the front sway bar-8 bolts and lift from under the engine with floor jack. 3 hour job. No vibration.

Unless you want to do the job again real soon. Spend the money on real, New Porsche Mounts. Those last a very long time, and are well worth the effort.

I do understand the argument for using Porsche OEM parts. Here is an explanation on the manufacturers of Porsche mounts.

I'd offer that the german made motor mounts are fine, I've used both Porsche OEM and the OEM ones manufactured by Teile and Meyle, and there is no difference in them, aside from price. The cheap ones that some of the secondary parts suppliers offered in the past that were from Taiwan were complete junk and should be avoided at ALL costs, but Porsche contracted to both Teile and Meyle to make theirs, there is no difference aside from the lack of the Porsche part number on them (and you can even see where the part number has been removed on them). (edited)

I purchase many Porsche OEM parts and recently they are made in many European countries outside of Germany. The poster is in Romania and may be able to purchase a non OEM Porsche set locally . Zims has quality products.

Default MEYLE Motor Mounts

I just ordered from my WS parts some Meyle Motor Mounts. They came in and were made in India. I went to my friends shop and pulled some off his shelf and they were also Meyle but made in Germany. I called back my WS and come to find out that Meyle makes 2 levels of mounts. The one made in India of course is 1/2 the price. They also tole me there is another brand that is all black, made in India and it cost $18 WS each but it falls apart. They do not carry it no more because of too many returns. I compared the 2 Meyle mounts side by side and it is hard to tell the difference except for the stamped steel part on the german one looks a bit better.

He asked if he COULD use them, not if he SHOULD use them.

It's been a while since I looked at a motor mount, but those do look similar to 944 mounts so I think they would work.

Could and should are relative here. Honestly cheap is not always the better way to go. Everyone I have EVER heard of that did it with "cheep" ones or non-OEM ones ended up sorry and had to do it again way too soon...

I agree and only use new OEM mounts. But who knows, maybe those funky looking ones are just NOS OEM mounts we don't recognize.
