I sold cars for 5 years so I may be able to help you out a bit.
1. If you are going to finance the car call around to local credit unions and find out the best intrest rate based on your credit score. The finance office at the dealership can mark up the intrest rate if they do your loan there. Example you qualify for a 5.5% intrest rate. The dealership can say the best rate is 8.5% and they will make the 3 points on your loan. They will also try and sell you GAP insurance and an extended warranty. You decide if you want to buy them. I never did but that is your choice.
2. You should be real close on your trade in. KBB trade in value is real close to black book value. I am sure they will come in and offer you $5000 for it. Hold your ground. Like you said they have had the car for 3 months and want to move it.
3. If they are asking $10,900 for it and you pay anything over $9500 for it you are paying too much.
4. Do not even tell them you have a trade in. When they ask "Do you have a trade in" Say NO.
5. Work it like it is 2 deals. Deal number 1 the 968. I would offer like $8000 first. Do not tell them you have a trade untill your happy with the price you are going to buy the 968 at. When you agree on the price say hey just out of curiosity what would you give me for my 99 4-runner?
6.Like I said they will now come in and offer you like $5000 for it. However you know the value to be around $7000 so work that deal untill you are happy with the money you get for it.
7.Then put a $100 deposit to hold the car pending a PPI
Have fun. Please come back and let me know if this helped you out.

Do not look to excited about the car. Be nonchalant about it.
Arash made some good points as well.
Or you could come and buy mine for much more

Kidding aside, my 968 is uncharacteristically slow. I need to reset the cam timing and give it its first tune up.
Jason said he's going to see it today...

Oh well. Now I have more time to save up money so when I do get a 968, I can get right down to the dirty stuff and get it how I like it quicker!
I only hope I can find another white one though..

i do think its a little strange that the car was sitting for months and then you make this thread and suddenly the car is sold. It wasnt hard to find out the car was in Santa Rosa at Sonnen Motors.
