you know i noticed there were a lot of zip ties all over the car when i was working on it..

the valve springs were zip tied?!?!

Yeah, zip ties, duct tape, and jb weld, baby. With these in one's arsenal, anything can be fixed.

You might own a 944 if it loses power at 4k rpm due to a loose zip tie.

rofl

btw, i fiddled with the connectors and the car appears to be running fine now. looks like steve zip tied them together because the plastic tab locking the connectors together broke off?

Yep exactly. The sensors were fine it's just they wouldn't stay connected. Glad you got it 'fixed'!

I've had this happen with 5000 rpm before... it was the AFM track being worn out. I just popped the cover off (kind of a pain the first time you do it) and bent the arms slightly so that it contacts a different part of the resistor track, then the problem went away and hasn't come back since.
