recall letter from Porsche, cost?
#17
When I imported mine I had called ahead for a recall letter and Porsche refused to give me one until I could provide proof of ownership so they suggested I request it when I actually pick up the car.
At that time I called the canadian side of the border crossing I was planning to go across and they told me that since it was over 15 years old it was exempt from the RIV program and so it required no letter, just an OOP inspection when I get it home.
Might want to check with your particular planned border crossing, but generally you're fine without one.
That said, the 72 hours restriction is kind of a PITA. Work with the seller see if they can send the title across earlier, IIRC they need a bill of sale too though, so maybe you want to make a road trip out of it? That's what I did, just took a tour of a few states while I was down there to buy some time.
