Default Another my car won't start thread

After a few weeks of "uh oh" moments before my baby would start, it seems to finally have given up. When I turn the key the engine turns over strongly, and continues to do so as long as I try to start it. I'm thinking fuel pump?

could be anything, hard to say.

I guess you'd have to check the basics, like spark and fuel.

is the tach bouncing when you crank.

if it's not that would indicate a sensor problem.

Sounds like the problem I just had, for me it was the DME relay.

try the DME realy first, it's cheap and easy and is a very common problem.

DME Relay? I checked Clarks Garage and my Haynes Manual but didn't see anything about that. What does that entail?

The DME Relay is a relay inside your fuse panel, if you take off the fuse panel cover it should say on the reverse of the cover what the relays are, it is also inside the owner' manual. The DME Relay is the one you want, you simply pull it out and then replace it with a new one.

The DME relay is a largish black box-type thing that plugs into the board with the fuses (there should be a chart on the underside of the fuse box lid).

Info is here.

It's a common malfunction ... if the relay breaks or burns out, the fuel pump won't work. When an engine won't start it's always the first thing to check.

Another thing to heck is a pair of plugged wires at the top of the engine right beside the firewall ... there's a little metal mounting where two black cables plug in to each other. The plugs may look good and firm, but if they're even slightly loose, the car won't start. Therefore pop the hood and squeeze the plugs together real hard to make sure.
