Default Gas Leak

My 951 has a very heavy gas smell for a hour or so after driving the car. The smell is much stronger when the tank is full. I have already replaced the two lines in the engine bay going to the fuel rail.

There isn't any fuel dropping on the ground under the car, and the smell goes away after sitting for awhile.

Where could the leak be coming from? Is there more lines in the engine bay that i'm not aware of?

in the rear of the car- inside- by the filler neck there is a hose that comes from the rear sunroof drain and goes down to the quarter panel and drains out the bottom. On alot of these cars there is a T fitting up between the filler neck inside and the quarter panel that lets splilled gas or water in the fuel area to drain out the sunroof drain. Alot of the time that comes loose or off and youll get smell or leaks from that. There is also a small "tank" up inside the C pillar in the same area under the rear panel that has a tendency to crack or fail sometimes. You can also pull your rear hatch carpet and look under the round plug in the floor to see if your fuel level sensor is leaking around where it screws into the tank.

Thanks, I will check that as soon as I get home.

Do you think one of those things leaking could cause my car not to start? It cranks, fires up then dies. But not all the time, its randomly.

doubt it. Sounds like either a ref sensor/DME/DME relay issue or a vac. leak. Make sure your clamps on your afm are tight and your vac lines to your fuel rail are connected.

pull the hatch carpet out, then pull the ps hatch carpet that is going from the floor to the hatch-or bend it up out of the way if you can - look down in the ps quarter panel well and follow the hatch drain up until you see it- its up in there for sure by the gas filler neck.
