Default I just figured out what the tempostat is.

All this time I had been thinking the tempostat was an engine coolant sensor or something, but as I am reading through the shop manual I just realized its the cruise control.

That makes the wiring diagrams make much more sense...

Anyway, just one of those dumb lightbulb moments. Please continue with your scheduled posting.

How does Tempostat sound like a cruise control anything? That's retarded. And here I thought the Germans were the smart ones. Unless it was an error on translation. Still dumb though.

Tempo in german is another word for speed, stat coming from 'static' it's a very logic word too. So it's not too farfetched at all.
Actually, I think the company that made it back then was called 'tempostat'.

Tempo is the rate or speed of something that repeats. Therefore "tempostat" is the controller of that rate or speed. Similar to thermostat. I've never heard of cruise control referred to as a tempostat, but since Bill brought it up it makes sense.

Choosing your words more appropriately will go a long way towards garnering respect from others. It has nothing to do with being politically correct, but everything to do with being considerate of others.

Yes, I agree tempostat makes sense to you Europeans. Anyone can break down the word and understand its parts.

But here in the US it is called cruise control (exclusively) and that's what the translated WSM should say.

I'm light hearted with my posts. Don't ever take me seriously unless I say so. Seriously.
