Default Tranny Crunch!

When shifting gears and sometimes when driving steadily and pushing in the clutch there is a "crunch" sound that i believe sounds like it is coming from the transaxle. I've had this problem ever since I bought it a year and a half ago. Anybody think they know what it is, and if it is fine being unreplaced? Thanks!

Is it only certain gears? Could be your transmission... or clutch, are you sure its not more of a clank sound?

Is it only when the clutch is pushed in that your sound is made?

The noise is more of a crunch rather than a clank i would say, and it does it when shifting, and sometimes when the clutch pedal is pressed. Also when i am going very slow in first gear through a parking lot or something it sometimes does it then too. Its like a crunch crunch crunch. My buddy said its the throw out, is this possible?

Would sound like a throwout bearing to me. It won't get better by itself.

Does the 'crunch' noises get faster as your speed goes faster? It sounds more like CV's to me (makes noise when not under any real load).

I also thought of the CV when i read that, and i would figure out what it is and fix it asap.

The noise only occurs when pressing in the clutch or shifting. For example, if i were driving and pushed in the clutch to coast, then while the clutch was depressed i shifted, the crunching noise would be made when i initally pushed in the clutch then stop, then when i shifted gears then stop again. It seems like it is only when i use the transmission. As far as it being a cv shaft i dont understand why this noise would be made. I know it should probably be replaced but ive had it for a while now and nothings gone wrong, although i know with these cars sooner or later something will go wrong
