Exclamation Very quick and urgent question (cooling system)

Hi there,

After doing the belts on my 951, just realised that a little hose coming out of the expansion tank has come off (from wherever it was meant to be) and leaks coolant when the engine gets hot.

Can someone tell me where part 25 on the below diagram is meant to go?

Thanks!

Looks like overflow hose, so the other end just goes down

YUP! Get one from your local auto parts store. Or it may have slipped down under the expansion tank.

I just looked at my car and the hose goes down into the bowels of the engine compartment. I think it just vents to the atmosphere when the cap opens up under pressure.

Thanks chaps. For comedy value this is what happened:

- After loads of work I finaly started the engine
- When it run hot loads of coolant started running everywhere
- So I post this thread and start taking bits out to see where the hose is meant to go
- After I read all of this I have another look and realise that the expansion tank cap was loose

Live and learn...

Did you bleed the cooling system using the bleeder screw?
