Its scary how much faster the 951 is in comparison. I mean its strange seeing the same familiar tach and speedometer actually going up at a pretty quick pace. My '87 felt great at speed, but the 951 just feels so completley planted. Gotta love these cars.
A recently spoke with a guy that had an '87 turbo for sale. He has owned six 944s including an '87 n/a, and I mentioned that I have an '87 n/a and was curious as to how he thought his turbo car that was for sale compared to his previous cars. He said that on the highway the turbo car was definitely faster, but around town at lower speeds it generally felt heavier and not really quicker than his '87 n/a. I'm guessing that since this turbo was stock this was due to lag before it spooled up. (Funny thing is, after finding out that the car for sale had some bodywork issues and a cracked dash, he ended up talking me out of checking out the turbo car.) How did your two '87s compare around town?
So yeah, I think you guys are being very hypocritical. I was talking about going to 60 on a back-road not up to 150 like some people have said on this post. I mean come on.
I won't be your dad and tell you all not to drive fast. Use your head and be smart. Everyone wants to do it so at least find a deserted straight road in the middle of nowhere, where you can't hurt anyone else. I did it once, I'm satisfied, don't need to do it again.
My 968 is not turbo. 151 is still less than the factory stated top speed so I don't see why you're surprised.
I have had my 88 924S at 154mph...
It had a little more but I ran out of *********.
BS, either your full of yourself or your speedo is WAY off.
also whether your car has the short or the long 5th gear the end result will be the same. i know this because the tranny blew in my 924S and the top speed remained the same with the longer 5th gear. around 136ish. so for the love of god people, quit thinking you've got to 140 or past in a n/a

What about the 16V n/a's? The S has no problem reaching 140, that 188hp comes in way up in the rev range to give it a little extra push, and the S2 is 3times better.

Yes, it might get there but pulling hard?? what's your definition of pulling hard?
^^^ sounds like my n/a ...without the wheel spinning. hold 20mph in first and hit it, i can spin the tires going into second after that if i really try
