I use mahle or the porsche ones that you can buy from pelican. I think almost everyone uses the same... and 90% i will bet say the Mahle filter is where it's at.

My local auto parts place wanted $60 per filter, so I ordered a bunch of the Mahle ones from 944online.com for $5 each.

Google for oil filter reviews and dissections... people cut them open and see how well they're really constructed. I like both Purolator and STP... they're well made, easy to find, and reasonably priced. The STP filters are made by Champion Labs (*not* the spark plug people), which is something that it has in common with several other brands of quality filters. Purolator is known to have some of the best filtering effectiveness on the market, but they don't offer their top filter for the 944 (which you'd want on a street car, but probably not on a track car).

And whatever you do, STAY AWAY FROM FRAM! Cardboard does not belong in engine parts!
