And how do we do that? Even if we didn't mind hiring expert weldors and repainting our roofs (perhaps our whole cars), there is still the matter of purchasing that non-existent steel sunroof panel. And making a custom headliner!

Like I said I wish it had 220 LSD but we cant have it all and I have a good low mileage clean 8Q to thow in there this winter. I will take the head off as it has been sitting for a year and a half, then I can do a thorough check of sylinders and if needed a head refresh! But basically other than a lot of work to be done its a great staring point for a classic early 944 with a very rare option here in the states!

Ill post pics soon!
Can't wait to see the pics!

My 84' was built in August of 1983 and sold on Halloween 1983 as an 84' model year at O'Hare motors in Chicago. I wish mine had the 220 LSD option as well...that would have rocked! I did add during my ownership some 200# Weltmeister springs and Boge Turbo Gas shocks all around and it made a huge difference in handling and cornering ability over the leaky Boges in there and 140# springs.

My 83' Callaway was built in June of 1983 so it was a late model 83' when it got sold.

Trevor at HRE racing has parted lots of 944's and I know he has a few early non sunroof cars that he has saved I believe he might have one or two that can be turned back into daily drivers with a few weeks of hard work if anyone is interested! I think he charges around $300 for a roof that he cuts off of some of the wrecked ones or '76 and early '77 924's as those are worthless and dont have sunroofs?

My car has sunroof delete but its in the shop right now (actually getting a new headliner...can't wait to see the final product). I'll post up pics when I get it back, but these other non-sunroof cars look great

So.. when you are saying sunroof delete you are refering to the car having no sunroof from the factory right?

I never knew my car was special! Ha, I feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I wouldn't have the car any other way.

What is the headliner in the sunroof'd cars like?

Wow that looks wierd on the inside. My car has a plasticy headliner on the whole roof as well as the inside of the sunroof. It just bulges down a little bit from the regular line of the roof.

They where aparantly more popular in Europe as they have a lot of non-sunroof cars, non A/C cars, no power steering and lastly manual windows! I dont think many dealers ordered cars without sunroofs because in the 80's it was the thing to have so you had to order it or a few large Porsche -Audi dealers might have ordered 1 say of each model then watched how fast they would sell compare to the open roof car!
