Cargo cover end caps...
Borrowing a little polyurethane technology from Brian (the edge), I built up my new cover end caps prior to the install. Last year both ends disintigrated while out in CO and I didn't want to replace those pricy little caps again. The Seran wrap idea came from a hatch seal that was posted, in the end the wrap didn't peel away so I suggest clear for the hatch procedure.
I had a new tube of sealant opened for the silentbloc upgrade so I figured what the hell, 12 twists later, she feels great!

I'm not sure I completely understand what you're talking about, but more power to ya.
The next weakest part of the cap is at the flange, and considering how it mounts would take a little more effort to build it up.

Over my head, but I'll admit to stupidity
Lemme see if I can translate:
You got new end-caps. Your old ones disintegrated. To prevent this, you strengthened the flanges by adding someting (polyurethane? what kind is that, specifically - when I refinished my old wood floors, I used polyurethane to seal them but I'm pretty sure we ain't talking about the same stuff) to build it up.
The Saran wrap is for - not sure, you covered it before the install, installed before the poly dried? expecting that it would peel away, but it didn't?
Anyway, good job. I replaced on last year, it's not the right one but it looks like it'll work with a little trimming. If I can figure out what you did, I might do the same

polyurethane?
The Seran wrap was mentioned in another sealant thread so I tried it and the way it was written it sounded like it peeled off after curing... glad I learn't that it didn't on this job. The poly is a lot like antiseize, once you get a finger tip in it, you have multiple clean ups.
