Default HELP NEEDED: How Do You Remove the Upper Seat Release Lever?

All, Does anyone know how to remove the upper seat release lever and trim piece without destroying it? I know there's a small metal clip that holds the lever onto the internal metal arm, but I can't figure out how to disengage it. Is it just a matter of applying enough force to pop it off? Thanks in advance. -clark

pull straight out very hard for the ***. when you break one you just press the new one onto the lever in the seat w/ the clip. cant guarentee it wont break but it only cost me a dollar for a new one. as for the housing im not really sure.

I have slid two spackling blades under opposing sides of the lever and tried to pry it off and gotten nowhere. I'd like to think breaking things is not part of the standard disassembly process, but sometimes I guess there's no choice.

I think the clip has 2 barbs on it. When you install it you have to push very hard and it snaps in. When the *** breaks its usually on the top or bottom and that frees up the clip.

Ok, thanks for the responses. I'll be a bit more aggressive and if it snaps, so be it. -clark
