Came across the S2 at a VW dealer used lot in the U.S.

About 2 months looking in Europe for the Turbo cab.

Stumbled across it 4 years ago on ebay when I was looking for a BMW 3-series convertible. Remembered how much I'd loved the look first time I saw it back in the early '90's. Bought it in the week and had to drive to SC to pick it up, sight unseen and no PPI. Dumb. dumb luck. It is soooo cherry and original and have never ever had the first bit of trouble with it.
Looking for a hard top for DE now and know I used up all my karma on that cab & will never find another"charmed" buy again. Anybody know a really good 1988 924S?

About 2 months. I found 3 before I settled on mine but they were ragged. Take your time if you have it.

If anyone is looking, my local dealer (nice PCA guys) just acquired a black 968 cab with a 6-speed. I think I read 105,000 on the odo. I didn't ask the price, wasn't really interested 'cause I'm not in the market, but I can find out.

took me 5 years of saving and a further year looking.

Although the saving wasn't "essentioally" for the car but certainly 1 year of Porsche looking,
bought the car outright no loans, good feeling that £10k (in 2000)

Took me about three months. I had found two 968 cabs and when I arrived to see both of them they were being purchased by someone else. Finally found mine at a high end dealership in Long Island. Parked between a BMW Z8 and a Ferrari F430.

I found my first 968 at a local dealer who wanted to sell it (being it was late fall) and offered me a great trade in on my 944. The second I found after about a month, then the third was through a friend and I found the speed yellow cab while browsing on cars.com by accident....
