Default I'm going racing!

Next year. I was reading about how much everyone seemed to be having in Spec 944. 'Why the hell not me?' I thought. I have the car, I have the desire. But I need more than that. So while this season is out, I'm going to be using the next year or so to get my car where it needs to be. While I'm doing that I'm gonna be hitting up those HPDE events at the Phoenix International Raceway (if only I could get some dates!). I struggled with this decision, because I so badly wanted to get a 951. But I made up my mind. So look out Spec 944! (Eventually) Here I come!

Sorry if no one cares, but I just felt like telling someone.

"Low Cost" racing is still expensive.

See you out there, hopefully in my the rear view mirror!

Yeah, while you're sitting out this year, prepping your car, also start working overtime and save up some money.

I'm doing the NASA hpde event this saturday at Laguna Seca! My first track day! $300 down the drain, yippee!

Enjoy! It's fun beyond description. And there's lots of good advice to be had on this board, make sure you use it!

And don't feel bad if you're in Brian's rear view, that's where I spend race days

Cheers

That my friend is 300 bones well spent. I REALLY WISH I was there. Laguna Seca is supposed to be a fun track.

<---- NASA is a great group to run with. Let us know how it went for you.

Lucky dog! I consider Leguna Seca one of the "Must Drive" tracks. Sadly no over time pay for soldiers (Although I do plenty of overtime!). Anyone from the Arizona region know when the next HPDE days are? I've asked several sources but have yet to get any answers.

3/8 & 3/9 @ PIR is the next DE with NASA. I'll be there in one of the cars. A couple of us are building a spec car as well if you ever want to swing by and check out the progress.

Congrads, it is fun, and as cheap as you're going to get racing. Your sig list Fort Bliss, which I believe is Texas. There's a shop called Applied Racing Technology in Austin which is building some spec cars - could be a good resources. YOu also mentioned AZ - Joe Paluch runs the show there - he's frequently on here and will chime in, I'm sure.

Also look here for more info: http://www.nasaforums.com/viewforum.php?f=40

Not to dampen your enthusiasm, but have you researched what this is gonna cost? I've got several friends who road race (regionally not nationally), and it's tremendously expensive. Heck, I spend many hundreds of dollars a year just autocrossing locally! But hey, if you've got it, go for it!
