If you drive at night the 968 is much better, the lighting is great in comparison to a 944.

I have all 3. The 968 has the most lower end power of them all. I prefer to drive the 968 in heavy traffic, because it has more "instant" (and I use the term loosely) torque then my 951 or 944. Its the easiest of the bunch to drive. IMHO all in all a much better car.

okay, now you guys are sounding obsessed.

and I agree 100% about the door sound.

I currently have a 951 and a 968 6 spd coupe. I had an early 944 before the 951. I wish that I had driven the 968 before the 951 because it always feels slow to me. My 951 actually feels easier to drive at slow speeds, and feels like it has more torque. Keep in mind, my 951 isn't stock - Vitesse MAF, Lindsey 3", Tial 38mm, Forge DV, etc. The 968, however, can pull you up a long hill on the highway in 6th without adjusting the throttle.... The 968's chassis is definately stiffer feeling through turns despite its stock suspension.

They sound similar, but the 968 has a deeper exhaust..thats to the huge displacement (for a 4 cylinder). With a full exhaust, i think they sound fantastic...

All cars from the 944 series could potently have this problem. It is pretty rare.

But it's close! I will say that with each year, my cars have felt faster. I started with an 84, next was an 8.5, then finally an 88.

Consider that many parts are much more expensive for the 968 compared to most other 944 variants since so few were made.

Some prices are actually cheaper.
