Well, what is this and what do i do to fix it? I had my dad look at it and he's stumped as well. Any suggestions?
These are all on the left side of the car.

You can even see it in "mid drip."

From 10 seconds of running.![banghead](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/banghead.gif)
So, any ideas about how to fix this? I'm dreading the idea of rebuilding the rack.

normansan,
Guessing you have a '86 944 turbo from your Q, you have 5 options:
1. Buy the nonleaking used rack for $80.
2. Rebuild yours with the information and kit from Rennbay who says it's not that hard.
http://www.rennbay.com/psrsealkitfull.html
3. Do not rebuild it because Arrnwork says it is a BIG task.

4. Fill it up with Prestone Power steering stop leak and cross fingers or untill you have time to work change it.
5. Buy a rebuilt unit from AutoZone for $183.00 with a limited life guarantee

Good luck

the hole that the fluid is coming from is the hole that you use to align the rack to true center I beleive. If it's leaking from there, it's an internal leak that requires rebuild/replacement.

Get a manual rack with the special manual tie rod ends (I got mine from Paragon). That will save a little weight and kill the leaking problem.

I bought an atsco rebuilt rack for my 951, 1000 miles so far and no leaks at all, feels just as tight as a new one, and I've gone over the thing top to bottom without finding anything really wrong with it.
My complaints are:
They paint the whole thing black, with paint that flakes off REALLY easily
They replaced the rubber plug with a metal bolt, I kept my old plug and it it back, I'd rather know if it's leaking thanks
There were some marks on the sealing surfaces for the crush washers. They were outside of where the washers sit but very close none the less, they were more than deep enough to screw up the seal if the crush washers were any bigger at all.
That said, it has the centering bushing on the passenger side (Which I broke when I rebuilt my old one), they appear to have properly greased the rack and everything looks well put together. For under $200 it can't be beat.
One person told me it's a limited lifetime warranty, if it starts leaking they replace it. I don't know for a fact how well that holds up, but sounds promising if you live near an autozone!
