Greetings to All,
I have a 1988 944S which has about 250K miles on it. My fuel pump failed last week. I installed new Bosch fuel pump. Now I am hearing a loud humming noise. I am hearing this noise while the engine is running inside the car which is louder than the engine noise.
I had this car for the last 10 years, I never heard the fuel pump noise inside the car.
I would appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks
Satche

Welcome!
For me that was absolutely the fuel pressure regulator (FPR). It failed and caused my fuel pressure to go way high (>100psi). The fuel pump doesn't like working against that pressure and it would groan much like you describe. You might check the fuel pressure before just changing out the FPR.
Any hot-start issues (i.e. taking a little longer to start when car is warm)? That's another sign of failed FPR.
