Default 944 spec/sp1 progress

hi guys
i have been slowly prepping a 1988 924s for 944spec/sp1 and thought i'd share some photo's with you....i started stripping the interior and added a Autopower rollcage which i bought here used. The autopower rollcage was modified a little. The cage was moved forward and upward a bit to give more headroom and protection. The cage was also tied into the chassis. I had some help by a fabricator and iam happpy with the results. This could be an option for u guys who have an aftermarket cage...Happy Holidays !

v-tach Great to see another 944-spec being built ! This class is just taking over some NASA regions ! 944-spec is the largest class in AZ and in Rocky Mountain region with MidWest likely .

The low cost to build a race winning car and equal side by side racing just can not be beat !

2 questions .

where will you be racing ? (what region)

and are you planning on making the Miller event ? we have passed 40 entries and are hoping to reach 60 !

Nice looking build! If you can't make Miller, join us at NASA Nationals - we'll have a good contingent of cars there this year. Nice work with the Autopower cage, as well.

Take a look at what Chuck is able to do with his 924S!:

"Tokyo Drift" Pass

I see you got got a "secret weapon" '88 LeMans edition like "Sideways Taylor" (who posted above) - makes a great base for a Spec Car. Good luck with the build!

I think that gray works very well on the floor. I used Rustoleum thinned with mineral spirits and a HD Foam roller and it turned out great!

why do you guys still run with a console and full dash? lol

couldnt you cut off the passenger half of the dash and just secure the end of the dash with the center bolt under the speaker? ashtray, airvents, radio...call me **** but honda used hollow carpet fibers in the NSX to save weight too.

In my case the class rules prevent you from removing any part of the dash. Id remove the center console but I want to keep the oil pressure guage and Ill be adding an oil temp guage when I start on some winter projects. Im keeping the heat because I want to have defrost capabilities when its cold, and again the class I want to run will only allow me to bypass the heater core, not remove it. Now that the car doesnt get driven on the street Im going to pull the radio out as well, but I will be removing the lower portion of the senter console where the ashtray etc. is.

hey guys.
prepping for paint and starting the paint with a rustoleum gray , oil based paint i found home depot-- so far i did the hatch area and used a brush -- not bad--not really any streaks and uniform... For the front DRIVERS FOOT AREA i may try something more durable like truck liner..i added some pics...lol silverman -- i did'nt see your post til i got home and started to paint !
