Wow. Boughten? Someone is up on their turn of the century rural Minnesota slang.

I have not seen that piece installed, but I did recover my own armrest with a chunk of marine vinyl from the local fabric store. It did not go perfectly but I think I can try again and make it pretty nice, especially if I use a heat gun. I did not try too hard as the vinyl was not a great match for my interior. I plan to look for the right match over the winter. I also replaced the hinge with a scrap piece of 1" nylon webbing (like a backpack strap) that I pop-riveted to the lower frame. The top half of the hinge I tried to glue without success, but the clamping force and screws that hold the cover to the frame seem to be holding it together. I'll probably get a proper replacement hinge when I get the right color vinyl, but I am interested in a stronger hinge as I am considering trying to make the armrest taller with a block of foam padding. That might overstress the crappy plastic hinge.

That looks much nicer than the one I got from performance products- not as 'factory' but much nicer. The leather version is $130- but comes with the whole armrest and a new hinge.

Not here but Rob makes some very quality items. You could email him or contact him through this board and I'm sure he could send you some pictures of installed covers.

I just bought an 84 n/a, and it did not come with an armrest. The console ends after the ashtray. Will I be able to install one without having to drill holes into the driveshaft tunnel? Is the tunnel pre-drilled or pre-bracketed to accept an armrest?

Are you sure the previous owner didn't remove the console box? If your car came without one from the factory, there probaly isn't any holes for the box. I'm sure you could make some though.

That's not as bad as the Kansas slang I have to hear my mother-in-law spew forth.

Let's see:

Rasslin - I think she's talking about wrestling.
May-shure - that word is used when talking about rulers and measuring tapes.
Warsh - don't know how that 'r' got in there, she means wash...
Warsher - a machine that is designed to warsh...
Wrench - after warshing something, you have to wrench off the soap...
Jall A Pee No - that's some bona fide Mexican there for Jalepeno.

There's more, but it's driving me crazy just thinking about it.
