Default Power Steering Problems

its winter here in michigan and lately every morning my power steering makes whining noises till its warmed up and i checked it today and it has signes of foaming and is a kinda of dark brown/orange is this a sign of an overtensioned belt or a failing pump?

Foaming indicates air is in the system. I'd try a fluid flush first as your fluid sounds dirty.

Air gets into the sytem through leaks. And we ALL know the p/s on these cars always leaks!

It's morning sickness. Air is getting sucked in through the nose seal on the PS pump. You need a new pump (or a seal).

is it leaking anywhere visibly? Mine actually doesnt leak anymore- after a new hose, ps pump and a reman rack.... It would do that every time it got low on fluid though. Make sure the belt is tight enough too- should have around 1/2" deflection on the belt.
