I finally got around to tearing apart the limited slip carrier that i obtained a couple of weeks ago . The carrier passed the factory service manual bench test for breaking torque , but i thought it a good idea i take it apart and get a look . I'm glad i did as the right side friction plates took some debris through it . It looks as if it possibly was before the transaxel grenaded , but i cant be sure . So looks as if the "free" LSD will cost me a few bucks anyway . I'm gonna get a couple of new conical springs too , trying to make sure it has good "grab "
Heres a couple pics . Are there any other on line suppliers that can be recommended to me ? Ive used Pelican , and so far they have a better batting average than my local Porsche dealers parts department . Anyone ?

wow it's...not as complicated as I would have thought. Keep us posted!
I have an unknown mileage unit I'm about to put in the car; I need to check R&P and this too but right now I'm getting some big cracks in the bellhousing welded up! (grrr see other thread)

Very nice pics, thanks!
Changing the conical shim washers will adjust the preload; apparently if you use the right shims, you can change it from 40% up to 80% lockup (40% is stock). Presumably this would be from installing the thickest ones?

I originally thought that changing the outer disc's to the next thickness would change the lock in also ........ But I'm not so sure after reading the FSM , and a reply to another post if that is correct . This Carrier has the 2.0 mm thickness outer plates in it now and they are available from 1.9 , 2.0 and 2.1 . The FMS shows adjusting the thickness to achieve a desired " stack " thickness..... Anyone know for sure ? Another poster had said for more lock-in i would have to change the machined surfaced angles where the back of the outside gears lock to the drive cups ........ I'm not sure at this point
Ill try finding Sunset Porsche , Any Links ?
