can i rebuild my brake pistons?
i coated the rest of my brakes but i couldn't do the pistons because they have the rubber boot on them and everything.
but i don't want to put these disgusting looking thins back into my nice new shiny calipers.
is there a rebuild kit with new boots and stuff?
or should i just put them in this way to save myself a lot of trouble?
btw, also got my new geometry correcting ball joints installed tonight...
not an easy task...

I hope you used heat resistant paint. Spirited driving burns off the ordinary paint.
When you paint cylinders mating surfaces with caliper frame the cylinders would not go back in there.
The front rubber seal and dust cover are same as one old model of Audi.
They are cheap and easy to replace

ok it turns out the answer to my question is no...
one of the bleeder screws sheered off inside the piston body. we tried to get it out with an easy out but its toast.
so if anyone has any front brakes sitting around i could use a set now. I would also take turbo brakes if anyone has them. (which means i would also be looking for spindles and rotors.)
let me know what you've got.

I have one of the rebuilts on my car right now- the paint got lightly rusted-over in a hurry without the usual coat of grease and oil to protect it, but it was easy to install, has given me zero trouble, and has been working just fine through lots of autocrossing.
Highly recommended!
No core charge! Although I wonder if they'll pay anything for cores...

I also grabbed one of the Paragon rebuilds, for my racecar after snapping one of the calipers on hitting a tire wall. Was nice, only complaint (other than prompt onset of surface rust) was that the caliper hung up, didn't slide freely, which caused it to eat a rotor in the course of a season (uneven wear all on one side, plus warped). By contrast, the other side which I'd rebuilt myself with synthetic brake caliper grease on the slides, was fine and shiny and new, no serious injury to that rotor. In the past I've never had any rotor problems on the car.
So by all means get them, just make sure to grease the slides properly with the right kind of (hi-temp) grease.
