Is this the power terminal to the foglamps?
Hi everyone, need some quick help...
Im installing a foglight and need to finish while theres daylight. Is the wire pictured the power to the foglamps? looks like a brown ( negative? ) and a brown with red strip ( positive? ).
thanks,

Those wires look a little thin, do you have a voltmeter to check them with? Then again when I removed my fogs the wires looked similar to that in width. Are both your fog lamps out or just one? If its the only pair of wires you find then I say go for it.

Hmm, this is all really blurry as I don't have my car in front of me not to mention mine is almost a completely different species. When I rewired my front end (updating it to a 951/S2 front end), I had one two prong plug and one three prong plug on each side of the car. The three prong plugs were for the side markers, one prong supplied a ground, one was for the blinker, and one was for the running lights (make sure you map this out correctly, it took me 2 hours and 3 fuses to figure it out because I cut all the wires first and asked questions later). The two prong harness was for the fog lights. The second three prong harness you have I'm guessing has something to do with the 951/S2 driving lights?
Are you doing what I think you are doing and removing the OEM fog lamps in favor of HID's? I've been wanting to do that for awhile but decided to put brake ducts in their place instead, though I might change my mind once again.

well, instead of spending $100 on a new foglight wiring harness to power my 600watts and 40amps of foglamps + headlights, I just pulled out the old harness and now Im using the stock harness since I only need to pull a few amps... like less than 5a. I got the hids off ebay for $80 shipped.. they're the xentek's. I figure at that price, i'd be nuts not to try it. no, i dont care if they're cheap or crappy, even crappy hids have got to be better than the stock lighting, or the halogen bulbs i had.

anyway, i found the sidemarkers.... it was 2 wires seperated and with their own rubber cover. I have 2 round connectors on each side, which Im sure are for foglamps... each connector has 3 prongs,, which is throwing me off a bit.. so thats 4 connectors total, and 12 prongs total. there's 2 connectors each side for the european foglight option, with has 2 bulbs in each foglamp.

Take out your voltmeter and take these measurements.
Turn on your lights and measure voltage at each terminal.
Turn your fog light switch (not sure if the later cars had this or not) to off then on and measure voltage at each terminal.
Turn on your hazard lights and measure voltage at each terminal.
That should help isolate each voltage source.

yep, i've knocked out most of the wires now.. the lower 2 prong round is foglight, the lower 3 prong round is forward blinker/parking light. theres another 3 prong round that I havent figured out yet though..
thanks for all the replies!

ok, got them all... the 2-prong round is the foglamps, the 3-prong round on the bottom is the forward parking light, it has a 3rd wire for the flasher... there is another 3-prong round attached to another harness which is above, that one is for the headlamps ( which i have disengaged ). I just tested one hid foglamp and.. oh.. my.. god.. it frickin rocks. I think i'll get another set of hid's and fill in the other side of the foglamp, i think they look 10x better with both lamps in there anyway... maybe ill get around to posting a pic...
