Default Help - 968 Rear suspension problem

Hi!

Bought the 968 last year and really enjoy it until I started to upgrade the suspension.

Plan:1. Renew entire steering rack and pump gaskets and joints
2. Replace new front shocks and spring with Koni and H & R Sport
3. Replace the rear shock with Koni
4. Replace all rear bushings
5. Replace A arm ball joints

Major problem: Rear Racing Bushings ordered from Proformance Products DO NOT fit, use the old ones to make one replacement using "similar" material has resulted VERY Harsh ride and the rear end bonced like hell.

PLease help if you can guide me to reslove this problem.

Possible solution:
1. Order replacement bushings ( Where??)
2. Make new replacement bushings using new materials.

I can be sure that it was mainly contributed by the rear bushings because I put back my old Shocks to the rear and still the ride was too harsh.

I regret very much that I touched the rear bushings at all. I wish I did not change them. A painful lesson to learn!!!!!

PLease please any idea how I can solve this harsh ride problem??

Grateful for your kind assistance!!!

Eddy

Can't you just put the old bushings back in?

Arash,

Unfortunately, I took them off and damaged them before finding out the new ones would not fit.

Bagger!

Try posting this in the 968forums.com forum there are some people over there that are very knowledgeable of the 968 suspension.

I replace bushings w/ urethane. last longer, similar ride to oem. Unless the car is *****-out track built, I NEVER use hard bushings. They simply do not perform on the street.

Oh yeah, when ordering polyurethane bushings, be sure to specify the hardness you want,
Even if the hardness rating is the same as the oem rubber, the urethane will perform better due to its highly controlled chemical makeup.

Best Regards,

Eddy, specifically which rear bushings are you talking about? The spring plate/t-bar pivot bushings, the carrier flange bearings, the trailing arm bushings?

Ben, where are you getting urethane bushings for a late model 944, that you can specify the durometer?

Hi! Ben and Jim,

I shall try urethane bushings.
I tried to change all, there are four sets I ordered from Proformance product. Order numbers: 904838, 904835, 904834 and 904839. Unfortunately, the inner diameters are slightly too big and there are free play if you put them in. I am trying to return them to PP and hope that they can refund me the money, the invoice somehow stating that they are for 924/944 but the caterlog claims that they should fit 968.

Thanks fo rthe information.

Much appreciated!

Eddy
