Default Superbrightleds.com question

I want to replace my instrument cluster lights, but they have a few diff versions of the #74 style bulb. Those of you that have gone the route, what bulb did you use? Thanks!

I'm about to order as well, and i'm curious. Order just the #74 bulb, or the T1.5 with the sockets? Also, how many?

Depends... I have the basic 74 bulb... but I have what you'd consider an early car! (82 931). All of my bulbs swap in directly... EXCEPT the bulbs in the combo gauge. Those are still not LED'd. I ordered the type with the smaller built-in socket. They don't fit my gauge. YMMV - I don't know how the 944s are.

I eventually plan to pop the LED's loose of their sockets and swap them in for the existing incandescents... hmmm, maybe I'll get to that today!

I have the WLED x4: http://superbrightleds.com/mini-wedge.html

Also, read this:

https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...rbright&page=4

Look at post #59.

I would like to try the x5 or x6 to see if they would be any brighter though the x4s are pretty good. The biggest thing is to make sure you do something about the reflective coating. Most likely, yours is shot. Read about bulb replacement in Clark's Garage to see how he 'fixed' it. I did the same thing he did and it made a huge improvement.

The bulbs are cheap. Buy several different ones and see which ones you like. Keep the others for spares.

Again, let me mention CLARK'S GARAGE

Specifically: http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/elect-08.htm

This will tell you everything you need to know.

Here's something I read (in OT, I think) about linking directly to a single post. Click on the post number in the upper right hand corner, and copy the address in the window that appears. You may already know this, just thought I'd throw it out there (since you went to the trouble of mentioning Clark's Garage twice ) - it'll save SpideySlave944 from having to scroll down the page <just razzin' ya, buddy!>
