Clutch pedal questions
I have not had much chance to drive the 944 of late as I picked up a nice 98' Boxster which has become my daily driver. Anyway, I went to start it up and I noticed a few things on the clutch pedal.
Quick background:
- Replaced the clutch with a new one (pressure plate, bearing, clutch)
- Replaced the slave and master cylinder and flushed/bled the system
Both were done around 5k miles ago (3 years in calender time).
1.) It has around 1-2" of initial play, where there is minimal resistance to pushing it. I seem to remember that from before, not sure if its right though.
2.) The clutch seems to disengage only with the pedal very far down. Basically, I almost get the feeling that I am pushing it to the floor then trying to push a tad harder.
3.) The clutch engages very low in the pedal too. Its like the top 50-60% of the pedal movement does nothing.
Is this normal? What are the likely culprits?
I do have the habit of getting in it after being in the 986 for the week... and the 986 has a wicked stiff clutch pedal. I also feel my 2000 1.8T Jetta has a loose clutch pedal once I drive it again after the 986 too.

There is an adjusting rod on the pedal. You have to lay on the floor and look up to find it. That 1-2" of play sounds like the rod is out of adjustment. I think the spec is supposed to be something like 6mm freeplay. If you take that play out of it, that will bring your engagement point up off the floor a bit.
