I didn't read through all the posts here but I have a set of M474 strut housings that I could sell you since you said the insert doesn't matter, the top of the inside of the housing is threaded to hold the insert.

I'm pretty sure that's what I have right now, modified for koni sports. 25.5 front sway and 18mm back on an 89 NA was that option, right? It sounds like really all I need is those collars (assuming they are the same diameter) the adjustable ower spring perch that threads on them, and the m030 springs.

Tell you what, if you want I can send you my M030 perches collars/perches from my 924S if you want to do a test fit. I was going to sell them but the perch and locking nut on one of them are frozen so its not going to do anyone any good. Id try to free them, but I dont have time. Im going to go out on a limb and say that the collars and perches are probablyt he same across models, although I have no facts supporting this. PM me your address if youre interested. You can have them for the cost of shipping.

It is my understanding that the m030 will still be legal for the e stock class in solo 2 under the backdate rule as long as you have the whole package ( bars , shocks , springs , and struts ) . I do believe that the 84 e stock 944 run by the Fordahl 's is set up with this option , and is a national contender at Topeka every year . They also use a HUGE front bar with reinforcement i am told .

I am also setting up a 944 for the local auto X 's here . The last set of adjustable m030 s went for $598 . 00 on the dreaded ebay , with the rear shocks also .

All about ' Rules interpitation ' ........ and those dammed MR2 s had better be watchin out for me ...... Sterno in the intake i say

Since shocks are free I honestly think that you couldd just cut the perches off an OEM strut housing to accept the adjustable perches from the M030. Knfeparty is getting the collars, but I think I know 1 person that has the adjustable perches for sale and another that might have the strut housings as well as the adjustable ride height stuff. One of mine is broken anyways. The perch and locking ring are frozen and dont turn any more. Send me a PM and Ill give you their contact info.

What year is your 944? If its an early model Ill give you my springs and top hats for the cost of shipping.

well maybe he'll turn up somewhere...

Is it okay to run stock-length ball joint pins with the M030 setup? I plan on dropping the car as much as possible, but if I need to get some rennbay GCK pins I will.

I just called 944 online and he said that they could get me everything I needed for the m030 conversion, but that the strut housings themselves were threaded, not collared...maybe the 924s was different.

67, if these don't fit my car I'll get in touch with you.

here is a link to someone selling adjustable height collars like the ones I sent you, but they are from a turbo S. I think that they all used collars. It wouldnt make sense to use threaded bodies then go back to collars for the 968.

here's the answer (I think):
Adjustable spring perches are allowed, but the spring load-
bearing surface must be in the same location relative to the
shock mounting points as on the standard part. Shims may be
used to achieve compliance.
I think this means that: 1) any strut housing that has the same mounting dimensions can be used. I think all they care about is not changing your alignment values (being able to add more camber).
2) throwing m030 collars on a strut that you hacked the bottom perch off of is okay.

I am really surprised by that...I mean it almost looks like you could get away with putting GC collars on there. But I know that can't be right.

J, I hope I find those collars in the mail someday when UPS finds them. I'll let you know how the little experiment turns out.
